The dress code helps to prevent injury, gives dancers freedom of movement, and helps teachers to ensure proper movements are being made.
When an instructor can see a students’ arms, legs, hips and knee joints- they are able to intervene and correct form more easily. Dance styles have different dress codes to bring out the best in that dance style. Instructors have permission to make changes to the dress code as they feel necessary through the year.
NO T-SHIRT FOR BALLET OR ACRO:
In Ballet: T-shirts hide the torso and it’s difficult to see if the ribs are open or closed, throwing off balance and alignment.
In Acro kids are upside down daily - t-shirts are unsafe and leaves kids feeling insecure, not being covered! Thank you.
Dancers should also wear proper outside wear - (Jackets/Warm ups/sweats) in colder months or to keep the body warm before they begin dance class.
DO NOT WEAR ANY DANCE SHOES OUTSIDE- THIS WILL DAMAGE THE DANCE FLOOR.
